ReadSmith는
아이폰, 아이패드, 맥에서 쓰는 전자책 리더입니다. 책에 박혀 있는 글꼴과 간격보다 사용자가 정한 보기 설정이 이기도록 만들었습니다.
- EPUB, TXT, PDF를 엽니다. 쪽 넘김과 스크롤을 고르고, 넓은 화면은 두 단으로 봅니다.
- 글꼴, 글자 크기, 줄 간격, 글자 간격, 여백, 색을 세밀하게 고르고 프리셋으로 저장합니다.
- 일본어·한국어 세로쓰기 책을 오른쪽에서 왼쪽으로 넘기며 읽습니다.
- 밑줄, 형광펜, 북마크를 남기고, 책 안 검색으로 찾습니다.
- 한국어, 영어, 일본어 책을 기기 안에서 만든 목소리로 소리 내어 읽습니다.

Google Drive 접근을 청하는 까닭
Google Drive를 연결하면 ReadSmith는 Google 계정에 Google Drive 파일 접근(drive.file) 하나만 청합니다. 쓰는 곳은 셋입니다.
- 넣은 책을 Drive의 «ReadSmith» 폴더에 올리고, 다른 기기에서 그 책을 받아 읽기
- Google 파일 선택 창에서 직접 고른 책을 «ReadSmith» 폴더로 가져오기
- 읽던 자리, 밑줄, 북마크, 보기 프리셋, 리모컨 설정을 그 폴더 안의 기록 파일로 기기 사이에 잇기
이 권한으로는 ReadSmith가 만든 폴더와 그 안의 파일, 그리고 사용자가 직접 고른 파일에만 닿습니다. 드라이브의 다른 파일은 볼 수 없습니다.
받은 데이터는 사용자의 기기와 Drive에만 있고, 개발자를 비롯해 누구에게도 보내지 않으며 광고에 쓰지 않습니다.

어떤 책을 열 수 있나요?
EPUB, TXT, PDF를 엽니다. 한국어 TXT 파일의 옛 인코딩(CP949)도 알아봅니다.
DRM이 걸린 책은 열 수 없고, 열 때 DRM이라고 알려 드립니다. 구매한 서점의 앱에서 읽어 주십시오.
책에 정해진 글꼴이나 간격이 바뀌지 않습니다
ReadSmith는 책이 박아 둔 글꼴·크기·간격보다 사용자의 보기 설정이 이기도록 만들었습니다.
책 디자인 그대로 보고 싶으시면 보기 설정의 «책 모양 그대로»를 켜 주십시오(책마다 따로 기억합니다).
여러 기기에서 이어 읽으려면
서재의 구름 단추(또는 설정 › 클라우드)에서 고릅니다. iCloud, Google Drive, WebDAV 서버를 쓸 수 있습니다.
«기록과 설정 동기화»에서 켠 곳으로 읽던 자리, 밑줄·형광펜, 북마크, 보기 프리셋, 리모컨 설정이 이어지고,
«책 파일 동기화»에서 고른 곳에 넣은 책이 올라가 다른 기기에서 구름 카드로 보입니다. 다른 기기도 같은 클라우드를 하나 이상 켜 주십시오.
소리로 읽기
한국어·영어·일본어 책을 기기 안에서 만든 목소리로 읽어 드립니다. 목소리는 AI로 만든 음성이며 열 가지 중에서 고를 수 있습니다.
인터넷 연결이 필요 없고, 소리를 저장하지 않습니다. PDF는 소리로 읽지 않습니다.
리모컨으로 쪽을 넘기려면
블루투스 페이지 넘김 리모컨과 게임패드(엑스박스·플레이스테이션·닌텐도·8BitDo 등)를 쓸 수 있습니다.
읽기 화면의 리모컨 단추를 누르고, 쓰실 버튼을 눌러 «앞으로»·«뒤로»에 묶어 주십시오.
오픈 소스와 출처
앱에 함께 들어 있는 음성 모델·글꼴·자료의 라이선스는 앱의 설정 → 오픈 소스와 출처에서 보실 수 있습니다.

About ReadSmith
ReadSmith is an e-book reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It's built so that your view settings win over the fonts and spacing a book hard-codes.
- Opens EPUB, TXT, and PDF. Choose page turning or scrolling, with two columns on wide screens.
- Fine-tune font, text size, line spacing, letter spacing, margins, and colors, and save them as presets.
- Reads Japanese and Korean vertical text, turning pages right to left.
- Keep underlines, highlights, and bookmarks, and search inside a book.
- Reads books aloud in Korean, English, and Japanese with voices generated on your device.
- Turn pages with Bluetooth page-turner remotes and game controllers.
- Carries book files and reading positions, highlights, bookmarks, and settings to your other devices through the place you choose: iCloud, Google Drive, or a WebDAV server.
Why ReadSmith asks for Google Drive access
When you connect Google Drive, ReadSmith asks your Google Account for one permission only: access to Google Drive files (drive.file). It's used for three things.
- Uploading books you add to the “ReadSmith” folder in your Drive, and downloading them to read on your other devices
- Bringing books you pick yourself in Google's file picker into the “ReadSmith” folder
- Carrying reading positions, highlights, bookmarks, view presets, and remote settings between devices as record files in that folder
With this permission ReadSmith can reach only the folder it creates, the files inside it, and files you pick yourself. It can't see any other files in your Drive.
The data stays on your devices and in your Drive. It's never sent to the developer or anyone else, and never used for advertising.

Frequently asked
Which books can I open?
EPUB, TXT, and PDF. Korean TXT files in the older CP949 encoding are recognized too.
Books with DRM can't be opened, and the app tells you when a book has DRM. Please read them in the app of the store where you bought them.
The book's own fonts and spacing don't change
ReadSmith is built so that your view settings win over the fonts, sizes, and spacing a book hard-codes.
To see a book's original design, turn on “Book’s Own Style” in View Settings (remembered per book).
How do I continue on another device?
Choose with the cloud button in your library (or Settings › Cloud). You can use iCloud, Google Drive, or a WebDAV server.
The places turned on in “Sync Progress & Settings” carry your reading positions, underlines and highlights, bookmarks, view presets, and remote settings,
and books you add go to the place chosen in “Sync Book Files”, appearing as cloud cards on your other devices. Turn on at least one of the same clouds on your other devices.
Read Aloud
Korean, English, and Japanese books can be read aloud with voices generated on your device. The voices are AI-generated, with ten to choose from.
No internet connection is needed and the audio isn't saved. PDFs aren't read aloud.
How do I turn pages with a remote?
Bluetooth page-turner remotes and game controllers (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, 8BitDo and others) work.
Tap the remote button in the reading view, then press the buttons you want to bind to Forward and Back.

Licenses for the voice model, fonts, and data included in the app are in Settings → Open Source and Credits.
